Crimes Investigated
February 2025 police activity decreased due to the pro activity by Officers and our community members. Officers responded to a total of 1,741 incidents, generating 93 reports. This proactive approach, coupled with the vigilance of our community, resulted in 42 arrests, 29 for misdemeanors and 13 for felonies. Moreover, 66 criminal, traffic, and parking citations were issued, and 97 traffic enforcement stops were conducted. The momentum of this activity continued into March 2025, with 111 reports, 48 arrests, 67 citations issued, and 99 traffic stops conducted between March 1st and March 24th.
On February 28th, CPD Officers responded to a business on the 1700 Block of Hillside Boulevard on a report of a backpack located with a firearm inside. CPD Officers quickly arrived on scene and located the backpack inside the occupied business. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was fully loaded and with one round of ammunition in the chamber. Also located inside the backpack were drug paraphernalia, LSD narcotics, and multiple identifications belonging to Yesenia Perez Hernandez out of San Francisco, CA. CPD Officers canvas the area and located Hernandez attempting to leave the area in a vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was unreported and stolen. Hernandez was placed under arrest and booked into County Jail for possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, and possession of controlled substance.
During the period from March 1st to March 12th, our Officers demonstrated their versatility by handling a diverse range of incidents. This included responding to 206 calls for service and initiating 727 incidents themselves. They took on a total of 61 cases, dealing with everything from grand theft, driving under the influence, shoplifting, drunk in public, outstanding warrants, to battery.
On March 1st, Jesus Garcia entered a business located on the 5000 Block of Junipero Serra Boulevard. Gacia concealed $322.41 worth of store merchandise and failed to pay for the merchandise as he exited the store. Garcia was detained by Loss Prevention Officers who promptly contacted CPD. CPD Officers arrived on scene and were provided an incorrect date of birth in order to attempt to conceal his true identity. Despite this, the officers were able to identify Garcia through a quick and efficient response. A search incident to arrest revealed Garcia to be in possession of additional stolen property from a nearby business. Garcia was issued a citation for possession of stolen property, shoplifting, and providing false identification to a police officer.
On March 7th, a CPD Officer was conducting a business check on the 5000 Block of Junipero Serra Boulevard. The Officer entered the shopping center when she heard tire friction loss and screeching. The CPD Officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly in the parking lot and spinning/sliding in a circular motion in the middle of a parking aisle. The CPD Officer quickly drove towards the vehicle and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. The driver was identified as Maninder Singh out of Daly City, CA. Singh was placed under arrest and issued a citation for reckless driving.
Between March 13th and March 24th, our vigilant Officers handled a variety of incidents, ensuring the safety of our community. They fielded 798 incidents, including 197 calls for service and 601 officer-initiated incidents. The cases they handled ranged from narcotics, shoplifting, grand theft, possession of firearms, DUI, threats against a peace officer, commercial burglary, and identity theft.
On March 15th, CPD Officers responded to Serramonte Boulevard and Collins Avenue on a possible drunk driver. CPD Officers learned that a pedestrian walking in the area was almost struck by a subject driving a Chevrolet sedan. CPD Officers promptly arrived on scene and conducted an investigative stop on the Chevrolet. Upon contacting the driver, Officers detected the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person, and he displayed the objective signs of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. During an inventory search of the vehicle before it was towed, Officers located a loaded firearm concealed between the seats of the vehicle. The male was further placed under arrest for the concealed weapon and transported to the county jail. While at the county jail, the male made threats of retaliation towards the officers for arresting him. Joshua Parker, a 30-year-old Alameda resident, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer with threats of violence/intimidation.
