Crimes Investigated
During August 2024, Officers handled a significant number of incidents, fielding 2,338 and taking 155 reports. We made 92 arrests, 79 for misdemeanors and 13 for felonies, issued 181 criminal, traffic, and parking citations, and conducted 167 traffic enforcement stops. The activity level continued to rise in September, with 119 reports, 68 arrests, 102 citations issued, and 111 traffic stops conducted between September 1st and September 23rd.
On August 25th, Colma Officers successfully apprehended a known theft suspect, Tony Alberto Venegas, who was observed concealing stolen merchandise near 280 Metro Center. Venegas, who had a no bail warrant for his arrest out of the Los Angeles Police Department, attempted to flee on foot upon being approached by CPD Officers. However, the Officers initiated a foot pursuit and managed to arrest Venegas for his warrant and possession of stolen property. Venegas is linked to seven thefts that occurred in Colma within a month of each other. He was transported to the county jail, where he was booked for his outstanding warrant, commercial burglary, and resisting arrest.
On August 30th, CPD Officers responded to a business on the 700 Block of Serramonte Boulevard. CPD Officers learned that an employee was causing a disturbance at the business and was intoxicated. Management observed the employee driving customers’ vehicles recklessly and terminated him. CPD Officers located the former employee who provided Officers with a fraudulent driver’s license. A thorough investigation revealed Dhillon Misri was suspected to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and suspected drugs. He was placed under arrest and booked into county jail for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and possession of a fraudulent identification card.
Between September 1st and September 8th, Officers were busy handling a variety of incidents. There were 119 calls for service and 376 officer-initiated incidents. Officers took a total of 33 cases, which included a range of incidents from vehicle collisions to shoplifting, evading a peace officer, grand theft, and warrant arrest.
On September 4th, Pierriea Jackson, Tiesha Simon, and three juveniles were involved in a theft. They entered a business on the 200 Block of Colma Boulevard, selected merchandise valued at $554.19 and left the store without paying. CPD Officers swiftly responded, apprehended both adults, and discovered the juveniles had also stolen merchandise. Pierriea and Tiesha were arrested and issued a citation for their involvement in conspiracy to commit a crime, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and shoplifting.
On September 7th, CPD Officers responded to the 2000 Block of Hillside Boulevard on a report of a theft. The victim reported that his shed had been burglarized, and his tools were stolen. CPD Officers arrived on the scene and located the suspect, Hugo Pelaez Mayen, in a nearby area who was in possession of the stolen tools valued at approximately $4,000.00. The victim did not wish to seek prosecution against Mayen and only requested that his property be returned. All stolen tools were successfully recovered and returned to the victim, and Mayen was released from the scene with no further incident.
On September 8th, suspect Hugo Palez Mayen returned to the 2000 Block of Hillside Boulevard, broke into the same shed, and stole the victim’s tools again. The victim confronted Mayen, who then began throwing large rocks at the victim. Mayen discarded the tools and fled on foot towards South San Francisco. CPD Officers arrived on the scene, conducted an area check for Mayen, and located his vehicle unoccupied on the corner of Holly Avenue and Morningside Avenue. With the assistance of neighboring police department agencies, a perimeter was set, and Mayen was located hiding in the backyard of a South San Francisco residence. Mayen failed to obey Officers’ orders and began fleeing on foot and jumping residential fences. After an extensive area check and foot pursuit, Mayen was taken into custody by CPD Officers. Mayen was transported to the county jail, where he was booked for armed robbery, resisting arrest, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Between September 9th and September 15th, Officers were kept busy with a variety of incidents. They fielded 527 incidents, including 124 calls for service and 403 officer-initiated incidents. The cases they handled ranged from trespassing, possession of narcotics, shoplifting, vehicle collisions, to vandalism.
On September 9th, suspect Hanson Wiseman entered a business on the 100 Block of Colma Boulevard. Wiseman exited the business with $37.12 worth of merchandise. The loss Prevention Officer placed Wiseman under citizen’s arrest for the theft. CPD Officer arrived on scene and conducted a search of Wiseman incident to arrest and located drug paraphernalia. Wiseman also had a trespass order from the business. He was issued a citation for trespassing, shoplifting, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On September 12th, suspects Angel Pena Loza and Juan Ramirez entered a business at Metro Mall and stole approximately $3,766.21 worth of merchandise. Loza and Ramirez fled the scene before CPD Officers’ arrival. The San Bruno Police Department apprehended Loza and Ramirez after they committed a second grand theft later on the same day. A CPD Officer responded to San Bruno, conducted further investigation, and positively identified Loza and Ramirez. The San Bruno Police Department booked Loza and Ramirez into county jail for grand theft.
On September 13th, Katunga Nunn committed a theft at a business on the 700 Block of Serramonte Boulevard. Nunn was confronted by an employee, which resulted in Nunn brandishing a pocket knife at the employee. CPD Officers arrived on the scene, conducted a thorough search, and located Nunn attempting to flee on foot. Nunn was taken into custody with no further incident. Nunn was transported to county jail, where he was booked for armed robbery, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
